We are located in the Cardinia Hills Hub at 400 Belgrave Gembrook Road, on the roundabout intersection with Beaconsfield Emerald Road, Emerald.
Purpose
If you would like to develop useful new skills and work on projects in a supportive friendly environment, you would enjoy being part of the Emerald Men’s Shed. Men’s Sheds were initially set up to address men’s health and wellbeing. Sometimes, men, transitioning to retirement or changes in family or employment circumstances, may experience an increase in personal, social, family and health/wellbeing issues, and possible feelings of isolation and loneliness. The shed motto is ‘talk to a mate’. If this would apply to you, come along and see how we operate and have a chat and a cuppa.
Members come from a wide range of backgrounds and the friendships formed are invaluable. It’s a great space for people to get involved, learn new skills and support each other.
Sheds have now transitioned to be a community resource, offering a wide range of services.
Members can work their own woodwork or metal work projects or on community projects for other community organisations, such as making wooden furniture for schools.
Sheds also offer a range of repair and advice services for members of the public, for example helping with assembling a complex flat pack.
We make items for sale, such as nesting boxes and bird feeders, which help raise funds for materials.
At festive times we make related items, such as wooden Christmas trees.
The Emerald Shed has a facility for servicing bicycles and also sells repaired bikes, which can be helpful for families who need to get larger bikes as their children grow.
The Emerald Men’s Shed isn’t just for men; over the past year we have opened our doors to any person over the age of 18 on Wednesdays and it’s been enthusiastically embraced – so women are welcome.
